neoliberalism as the real enemy

There’s an excellent recent post, It's not just the left, at Oz Conservative on the subject of neoliberalism. Or, as Mark prefers to call it, right-liberalism (and I think he’s correct in seeing right-liberalism as the better descriptive term).

This is a bit of a hobbyhorse of mine as well. Right-liberalism is in fact the biggest single menace we face. It’s actually a more pernicious threat than any current variant of leftism. And it's a major problem throughout the West, and especially in the Anglosphere.

The post is well worth reading.

  1. This is a good point. I groan whenever I hear a commentator bark "Biden is a socialist!" or whatever. If only. There really is no "left" anymore in the West.

  2. Agree absolutely, neoliberalism is an utterly malignant doctrine, though rarely expressed so baldly and blatantly as in the Bowman tweet. The Adam Smith Institute has been hugely influential among 'Right' politicians in the UK and the West over the last four decades.

  3. I put effective altruists in the enemy camp from the first reading of their views.
